I don't know very much about the California music "seen". I haven't learned the shit from THE SHIT. Manimal Vinyl, a 2 day folk / techno /weirdo / rich hippie fest in  Pappy & Harriet's Pioneer town did a number on my novice brain. When it was good it was good, and when it was bad I hid in the minivan we rented and cried.

LA techlust Dune-worship band Laco$te was signed to Manimal Vinyl after cute-as-an-asian-button front woman X gave a patented performance tease to Label Owner Paul Beahan. They're album is caught up in some typical money bullshit but that didn't stop Paul from inviting them to play the showcase.

So what happens when you import wealthy laurel canyonites, hippies, bikers and tourist to watch bluegrass and performance disco? Well it smells like weed a lot. You breathe in a lot of dust. You make a friend for about an hour, and you generate fake enemies for the weekend.

I'm glad I didn't have to pay to get in. $50 for lots of bullshit and eye candy will never compare to $5 and retard noise. Next time I'm going with sugarcubes to sell and then leaving once they figure out that This Acid Is no Good.
